VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Ella Vos Talks Debut Album, Growing Profile

Breakout vocalist and songwriter Ella Vos has garnered a growing fan-base since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Words I Never Said. Featuring tracks such as, “White Noise” and “Down in Flames,” which have been streamed over 18 million and 21 million times respectively, the album was independently released and written in the wake of Vos’ son’s birth and was inspired by the challenges she faced as both a new mother and artist. Words I Never Said touches on subject matter relevant to the recent movements for equality for women, postpartum depression, abortion, women’s reproductive rights and more. The track “Mother (Don’t Cry)” was recently released and speaks to the process of change, as Vos explains of the struggle of “one foot in the past and one foot in the future. There’s a huge range of emotions that I think we commonly experience in those moments—anger, fear and frustration then optimism, hopefulness and peace.”

B-Sides spoke with Vos during her recent San Francisco tour stop to talk about her emerging profile, how her music has become an anthem for many women going through similar experiences as she had and more. Check out the interview:
