LIVE REVIEW: Nova Tour ft. R.L. Grime Lands in Nashville

Kittens, Graves, and R.L. Grime stopped off in Nashville as part of their Nova Tour, drawing in a packed house despite it being the night after Halloween.  Lauren “Kittens” Abedini started the night off, increasing the energy as the crowd steadily grew.  The L.A. based DJ got her start mixing in college, but before long she was performing at private parties for stars like Usher and opening for Kid Cudi on tour.  Her set up was very minimalist in terms of lights, but did not take away from her laid –back vibe and slightly soulful set. 15808

R.L. Grime’s Nova Tour Takes Off

Since the debut of “Grapes” in 2012, R.L. Grime has quickly ascended the ranks as one of trap music’s most in demand producers.  It’s almost impossible not to hear his track “Mercy” dropped somewhere in a set, and good luck keeping track of how many times it pops up in sets over the course of a festival weekend. 2017 has been a big year for R.L. Grime.  After closing out 2016 with the release of “Waiting” in collaboration with Skrillex and What So Not, Grime returned with “Reims” in May.  In June, the producer released his own zine on his site

Highlights from the first night included memorable sets from Tchami, Above & Beyond, and Zedd.  Although each drew a slightly different crowd, all three sets included a mix of old favorites and newer material

Texas Gets Ready to Ring in 2017 at Lights All Night

Lights All Night returns to Dallas bigger than ever before, even with adding a sister show in El Paso on New Years Eve.  Now in its seventh year, the festival has become Texas’ largest EDM festival.  Ravers from last year will return to the Dallas Market Hall for the two day festival, but will be pleasantly surprised at the promised overhaul of the venue layout designed to make entering more efficient.  The event will also be broadcasted live this year so that no one has to worry about missing any moments despite a few scheduling conflicts.
