After releasing of their debut album, Flow State, approving audiences and critics alike were eager to see Tash Sultana perform the material live. They performed numerous festivals across Europe and has been playing at huge venues across North America, including dates scheduled at Red Rocks in Colorado and the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA. A literal one-person show, the Australian artist has garnered accolades for the live performances to go along with the award nominations for their recorded material including nominations for the prestigious Triple J Australian Album of the Year award and six ARIA’s (The Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards).

With a long line waiting outside the venue prior to doors opening, fans were eager to see Tash Sultana perform a sold-out show in Nashville Sunday night. Openers, Teskey Brothers have become a Nashville favorite, as the large Australian band impressed many with their jazzy sound akin to Chris Stapleton and a welcoming sing-along chapel choir vibe. When it came time for Tash Sultana to come on stage, their unique shrine-like set started coming to life. Neon lights, crystals, incense, tapestries and an array of instruments that would all be beautifully place by the 24 year old Aussie. The intimate layout of the Ryman Auditorium allows artists to get close and interact with the crowd, which the audience certainly appreciated during Sultana’s set, as the energy and emotion Tash played with every note and instrument could be felt. From guitar, trumpet, mandolin, drum machines all incredibly looped, the crowd became entranced by their voice and music. After her first couple songs, there was a moment of silence for a friend Tash lost at Burning Man, explaining that she was very close to the man and that they were missing the funeral back home. With every song, the set was put together to take the audience through an emotional roller coaster; from playing “Big Smoke”, “Notion”, “Can’t Buy Happiness”, “Mystik”, “Free Mind” and ending in “Blackbird” as an encore. In every genre of music, there is always an appeal to a certain generation or group of people. But with Tash Sultana, it is impossible for anyone not to recognize and appreciate how incredibly creative they are.
