Review: Mumford & Sons “Wilder MInd”

1035x1035-unnamed_zpsozcjnw3hThe new Mumford & Sons album “Wilder Mind” isn’t bad. It’s not good but, it’s not bad. At best, it’s boring. You can certainly hear what the band wanted this album to be; proof that they don’t need to rely on the folk craze they rode in on, an attempt at cutting their teeth on the indie rock scene. Unfortunately for Mumford and his sons, this is where they faltered.… Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: The Magic Whip by Blur

tumblr_nk0xeun8Dh1rxwzp4o1_1424357670_cover2009 saw Blur reunite its original lineup, including guitarist Graham Coxon, who left the band in 2002. Since then, the band has been pressured by fans and the media to release new material. It is understandable, considering how their last record, 2003’s Think Tank, while interesting, at times felt more like a work of Damon Albarn’s than of the group, particularly due to Coxon’s absence. Perhaps what their fans wanted is some proper closure, or just to see these four make great music once again.… Continue reading

Aqua Hair and Doesn’t Care- MIJA

After stumbling early into a venue with the intentions of catching a well known headliner later in the night, my ears nearly fell off from excitement after discovering the allure set by Mija. Native to Arizona and part of the OWSLA label, the whiskey loving gal has been hitting everyone by surprise.… Continue reading

VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Flo Morrissey Talks Songwriting, Pages of Gold, Dispels Internet Rumors

FLOMORRISSEY-1Flo Morrissey has been writing songs since she was 14 years old, which is impressive by itself, but she also did it as part of a family of nine children. As the second oldest, Morrissey balanced her responsibilities in helping out the family with her younger siblings, all the while pursuing her love of music. Morrissey hails from the Notting Hill section of London and grew up listening to the likes of Devendra Banhart, CocoRosie and Antony and the Johnsons. Using music as an outlet, Morrissey posted her music under the moniker 9mary on MySpace and even made her own music videos. VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Elliphant Talks Rap, Future Collaborations

ELLIPHANT-1Some may recognize Swedish artist, Elliphant, from her collaboration with Skrillex on the track, “Only Getting Younger” or “All Or Nothing” with Bunji Garlin and Diplo, while others may know her from the work she did with MØ on the sultry track, “One More”. The varying style of the aforementioned songs is demonstrative of Elliphant’s wide-ranging musical interests. Although she burst onto the scene in 2012 with the addictive, “Tekkno Scene”(which would be later used in the video game FIFA 13), it wasn’t until 2015 did she make her debut at SXSW. Coupled with her recent performances at the Mad Decent Block Party and touring with Charli XCX, Elliphant has built a loyal fanbase that’s growing exponentially and eager for what’s to come.… Continue reading

Five 10 Year Anniversary Tours We Want for 2015

10-year-anniversary2005. That was like two years ago, right? A full decade has passed since the year that brought us Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch, 40 Year Old Virgin, Hurricane Katrina, and the incredibly tragic death or Mr.Miyagi, Pat Morita. In the past couple of years, bands have really taken to ten year anniversary tours for fan favorite albums. Taking Back Sunday did it for their debut “Tell All Your Friends“, New Found Glory has done it for two separate albums, and the trend keeps growing more and more popular in the scene. The nostalgia overload makes for an incredible live experience, and if a band you like does it for an album you love, I highly recommend getting tickets. Anyways… Continue reading
