VIDEO: Interview – Dylan Gardner Talks San Francisco Music, Songwriting

dylan gardnerSinger, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Dylan Gardner was literally born into music. His father, Mark, was the bassist in ’80s Chicago power-pop band The Kind, exposing Dylan to not only to life as a working musician but also to the history of music via his record collection that included the likes of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and The Doors. Although Gardner started out playing drums and moved over to piano as a child, he discovered Jimmy Page and became enamored with studying and playing guitar. Only a few years into creating original music, Gardner found himself with a track with 2.7 million Spotify plays and an independent album that helped him land a major label record deal. His debut album, “Adventures in Real Time” was released late 2014 and was invited to play SXSW 2015.

B-Sides host, Pete Mar, met up Gardner during his tour stop in San Francisco to talk about his impressions of San Francisco, love affair with classic rock, writing for his debut album and more. Check out the interview:
