20 Cool Acts To See At Coachella 2019

As festival season is approaching, the most exciting music festival is celebrating their 20th anniversary—Coachella! The first Coachella festival occurred in 1999 with acts: Beck, Tool, Morrissey, Rage Against The Machines, A Perfect Circle, and so forth. Coachella is the Woodstock of Southern California with it’s numerous performances of various genres. Each year, Coachella keeps getting bigger with their attendees and their artists. This year, Coachella is stretching their two weekend festival from Friday April 12-Sunday April 21. Here is our list of twenty performers to catch at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

The 1975

The British quartet The 1975 charmed our hearts with their first hit single “Chocolate”. Now they keep returning with a bang singles after singles and albums after albums, their latest third album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships received critical acclaim and won 2019 British Album of the Year for the Brit Awards. The 1975 just keeps proving that they’re not just another English pop group.

Janelle Monáe

Talented singer/actress Janelle Monáe is soaring with her music credit as Grammy nominee, MTV Video Music Award winner, and awarded Billboard Women in Music Rising Star. She’s climbing to the top as she co-headlines at Coachella among other A-list artists on the first day!

King Princess

After her SXSW performance, King Princess is on a roll with music festivals along with her personal tour. Her singing, lyrics and musicianship are enough for King Princess to be booked for many festivals to come.

Beach Fossils

Brooklyn band Beach Fossils venture over to Coachella after briefly touring with Wavves. Their third album Clash the Truth made it on the Top 40 Indie albums in 2013 and in 2016 had a guest appearance on Mick Jagger’s HBO show Vinyl. Coachella will certainly dig their lo-fi surfer shoegaze sound!

Let’s Eat Grandma

Childhood friends Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth of British duo Let’s Eat Grandma describes their music as “experimental sludge pop”. Their debut album I, Gemini received positive reviews from big name music magazines while their second album I’m All Ears won Album Of The Year at the Q Awards. New music aficionados at Coachella will have their ears listening to Let’s Eat Grandma when they step on stage!

Tame Impala

Australian band Tame Impala are headlining at Coachella as they should on Saturday night! We imagine fans singing “Elephant” “Let It Happen” and their new single “Patience” with its trademark Tame Impala dreamy psychedelic vibes.

Billie Eilish

Singer Billie Eilish and her rabid fanbase will be out in full-force in the desert. Her dark edgy music strays her away from any commercial pop artists, which is why her uniqueness has drawn more of an audience. Billie Eilish’s shows are selling out as quickly as they’re announced, and with the big platform of Coachella, who knows who may show up on stage with her!

Maggie Rogers

After being discovered by Pharrell Williams and performing on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Maggie Rogers gets to showcase her musical talent at the world’s biggest festival. With her engaging live performance and inspirational tunes, Maggie will no doubt grow from playing Coachella.

Sabrina Claudio

Our friend Sabrina Claudio joins the Coachella set after playing Outside Lands last year and her own touring gig. Attendees should be excited of what Sabrina will bring at the festival!

Parcels

Berlin band Parcels released their self-titled album in 2018 after their two EPs Clockscared and Hideout. Their single “Overnight” was produced by legends Daft Punk after taking interest in their electric- disco vibe. Parcels even performed the song on Conan! Just before they go on tour, they’re playing at Coachella where everyone will fall in love with their music. Even actress Milla Jovovich must like them to star in their music video!

JAIN

French singer JAIN is becoming an International singer with her multicultural influences from Congo and UAE incorporated into her musical style and unique visual effects in her videos. Her previous album Zanaka got certified three times in France and she has performed in Lollapalooza. It’s no wonder that Levi’s Jeans used her song “Makeba” in a commercial!

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande has literally become a pop princess to our generation as she headlines the last night of Coachella. Save the best for last as she proves that “God is a Woman” on stage!

H.E.R

Recent Grammy winner H.E.R takes the stage as she proves why she won Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Album!

Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Oregon-New Zealand based band Unknown Mortal Orchestra received attention on Bandcamp after their single “Ffunny Ffriends” was posted anonymously. From there they were being reviewed by Pitchfork and appearing on late night as musical guests. They’ve been nominated for New Zealand Music Awards and now Coachella will witness this indie garage rock group!

Clairo

Singer Clairo has collaborated with many artists including Wallows, Matt & Kim, etc. Clairo is another “do-it-yourself artist” as she was discovered through Bandcamp and SoundCloud. She’s toured with Grammy winner Dua Lipa and is ready to stand in front of thousands at Coachella!

Wallows

Clairo has been featured in this new trendy band’s song “Are You Bored Yet?” Wallows might just be the band of the summer and the band to remember after Coachella. 13 Reasons Why fans may recognize lead singer Dylan Minnette!

Soccer Mommy

Another female artist doing very well in her music career selling out shows, briefly touring with The Drums, and now stepping onto the big stage where she can grow new fans!

Hyukoh

Korean band Hyukoh have placed sixth on Billboard’s World Albums in 2017 and last year their music was featured in the iPhone X commercial. They’ve played in numerous Asian music festivals as well as done their first world tour. Looking forward to what these guys will bring at Coachella!

Lastlings

Australian sibling duo Josh and Amy Dowdle formed Lastlings in 2015 after releasing a song on SoundCloud and realizing this could actually be a profession. They began taking their jam sessions more seriously than just fooling around. Influenced by electronic and trip-hop music, is making them breakthrough. Just wait till they release their album!

Shallou

L.A singer and producer Joe Boston aka Shallou is stepping into the indie electronic music scene with his very own label Sleeptalker. Not only is he a musician, but a true environmentalist whose music profits go towards Environmental Defense Fund. He’s making a difference in the world as well as music.
