Fashion Recap: Grammy Awards 2014

Awards shows are a goldmine for celebrity fashion and trends that make a buzz. This year's Grammys had it all: lots of sparkles, dangerous necklines and classic men's suits. Of course, we can't ignore Pharrell's hat, the robots of Daft Punk or Madonna's grill. Let's take a look at some of our favorite looks by the women at the 56th Grammy Awards! 7483

Video Style: Ellie Goulding-“Goodness Gracious”

Ellie Goulding's latest video for her single "Goodness Gracious" is electrifying and an 80s dream. Shot in L.A., Ellie takes to the streets and beach in full-on neon, sequins and LED kicks. She's demonstrated she has the flare for style and her latest video exemplifies that. Let's take a look at what she has going on! 7334

Fashion Analysis: Taylor Swift Parties with New Bestie Lorde

Taylor Swift celebrated her 24th birthday earlier this month with an Australian garden party--and new best friend Lorde in tow. Tay shared photos from her whimsical and classy party on her Instagram account but the media couldn't keep their eyes off Lorde's presence. As you might remember, Lorde was feuding with Tay's bestie Selena Gomez earlier this summer after she slammed Gomez's "Come and Get It" for not agreeing with her views on feminism. Selena responded that pop queen bee Lorde is not supporting other women. 7138

90s Fashion: Should These Pieces Make a Comeback? (Part 2)

Last time we revisited 90s classics like crop tops, daisy print, Doc Martens, Spice Girls-inspired LBDs and chokers.  There was plenty more that encapsulated 90s fashion than the trademark plaid shirts and overalls of the early part of the decade.  The decade ended with a hodge-podge ranging from backwards red baseball caps courtesy of Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit to the frosted tips and all white outfits from the impending ubiquitous boy bands.  Now we take a look at the trends we couldn't escape during the decade that Michael Jordan dominated in basketball, Howard Stern brought "real talk" to the

90s Fashion: Should These Pieces Make a Comeback? (Part 1)

Every decade of fashion comes back around: 60s & 70s floppy hats, wide-legged jeans and flower head pieces; 80s bright colors and flashy kicks and we've seen the 90s wave coming for a while now. The Nirvana flannel and beanie look is expected, but what about these long lost items below? Would you try and relive the 90s through these pieces? 6017

Video Style: Kings of Leon- “Supersoaker”

King of Leon's "Supersoaker" video released last month is a pretty good visual tribute to Grease with an Instagram filter. Their album Mechanical Bull is out this week and while past "Video Style" posts have mainly focused on women's fashion, the boys who originally grouped together in Nashville brought a solid combo of white tees with rolled sleeves and leather moto jackets. Main man Caleb Followill sports a good denim-on-denim look with a  worn grey tee under a jean vest. Denim-on-denim work a lot better with different washes--a lighter denim vest is safe with darker wash jeans and a comfortable heather grey

What to Wear: Austin City Limits Music Festival

Heading to Austin City Limits for both or one of the festival weekends?  Even if you're indigenous to the area, the weather is never a surefire bet.  It could be hot and humid in the afternoon and suddenly you may find yourself in the midst of a thunderstorm.  Anyone remember the downpours at ACL 2012?  Either way, ACL is a time to take in the great music, make new friends, enjoy the amazing food and of course, look somewhat presentable all the while!  Regardless if you're into EDM, folk-rock or have an adult-contemporary side that will be filled to the

Video Style: Lana Del Rey- “Young and Beautiful”

I'll be honest, I'm not ashamed to do a dramatic Lana Del Rey impression every now and then. Her song "Young and Beautiful" released this past April, and constantly remixed by the likes of Kaskade, was composed for the film adaptation of "The Great Gatsby." The video released a month later showcasing Lana in a combination of Old Hollywood glam and a bit of street wear--as she usually does on a day-to-day basis with Converse and a bold lip. 5137

How Do We Feel About: White after Labor Day

Long before Labor Day, which just snuck up on us this past week, white has been an on-point trend all summer. It gives a crisp and clean look making it still white-hot after the holiday. Texture plays a big part in keeping the all-white look more than just white jeans and a t-shirt. Mesh inserts, lace detail, structured pieces all give shape when dipping in the same color can, as can mixing different tones of white. 5141

Video Style: HAIM- “The Wire”

My new favorite trio of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana make up HAIM who just released the new video for their jam, "The Wire" earlier this month. LA-born and raised, the girls have also put out singles "Don't Save Me" and "Falling" which have often been compared to Fleetwood Mac. While they're not breaking hearts in the video, all three are rocking long, mermaid wave hair giving them the ultimate bedhead look. They've also perfected the motorcycle jackets paired over a band tee, collared button up or with a mini--this floral skater skirt is perfect. They already are three gorgeous ladies and tend to keep

Video Style: CHVRCHES-“The Mother We Share”

CHVRCHES is on fire right now and their debut album, "The Bones of What You Believe" comes out September 23 in the U.S. The Scottish electropop group released its music video for "The Mother We Share" last week although the single was released last year. Lauren Mayberry shines front and center in between Iain Cook and Martin Doherty in the video as it follows along a somber looking women wandering the city in search for someone. Mayberry's voice is very delicate but she plays up a heavy moto jacket over a black tee. Nasty Gal's "Moto Zip Crop" jacket is a

How Do We Feel About: Camo

I associate camouflage with a couple of things, such as the Destiny Child's "Survivor" music video or this one outfit in particular that I wore to my seventh grade dance. But now, to be honest, I'm kind of digging a subtle, faded camo print. 4587

Dressing for Work: SF Summer

If you live in San Francisco you know that summer doesn't take place during the usual June through August months. There are obviously gorgeous days to lay out in Dolores Park, but when that fog rolls in it's time to layer up. And at work, you'd rather be bundled up on the couch than in a pencil skirt. So, how do you prepare for a day of work when it goes from misty to cloudy to windy? Or for the unexpected sunny day? I swear by layers. On the days when you know it'll stay chilly, try these patterned pants from Gap

LIVE REVIEW: The Postal Service In Berkeley, CA

I'm one of those people that has major music moments and I remember hearing "Give Up" for the first time on a bus ride to Aptos when I was 14-years-old. Experiencing The Postal Service live at The Greek Theater gave me the same feeling I had 10 years ago. The Greek was completely dark but buzzing with a summer energy when the lights flashed on and they kicked off the show with "Brand New Colony." And if you know that album like the back of your hand, as most fans of theirs do, everyone was singing every word to "The District

Video Style: Lorde- “Royals”

16-year-old Lorde's video for "Royals" received more than 100,000 hits within 24 hours of being posted in New Zealand in May, and is still drumming up popularity in the U.S. The New Zealand native signed a development deal with Universal Records at the age of 12 and has spent the past four years working on her first EP, The Love Club. In an already haunting and cinematic video, Lorde makes a brief appearance in "Royals"--uncharacteristic of many U.S. pop stars. The video, and the song itself, are minimalistic and simple but in the most intriguing way. The glimpse of her style

Dressing for Work: Mix & Match

Whether you are starting out at your first full-time job or interning for the summer, you still want to make an impression without losing your personal flair. And entering the workplace, your budget won't expand the way you would like your wardrobe to.Mixing & matching is one of the best ways to take the pieces you already have in your closet and make it look like you have something new to wear every day. I've found investing in a pair of dark jeans, a lightweight blazer, a striped/patterned dress and a nicer blouse will take your workplace fashion a long way.

Video Style: Ellie Goulding- “Burn”

I could write something new about Ellie Goulding every time she uploads to her Instagram account. The pint-sized Brit released the video last week for her newest single, "Burn" which will be included on the re-release of her sophomore album, Halcyon Days. 4231

Skort Revival

Skorts (the kin of a skirt and shorts) were a genius combination on the playground--you could still be a lady and play Lava Monster--and luckily they're making a classy comeback. The fitted trouser shorts are now being hidden beneath an angular and structured skirt. Zara's Mini Skort in red, white and black options are an example of how the former spandex, patterned piece has transformed into a staple to take from brunch, to work, to happy hour. As a young professional, not a lot of companies include shorts in the dress code. A dressy skort might be your golden ticket for when
